Choose a reputable online tuxedo specialist. Your wedding is one of those rare occasions where saving a few bucks by shopping on eBay isn’t the right move. Four of our favorite online tuxedo shops offer comprehensive selections, secure shopping, impeccable customer service, and generous return and exchange policies:

Check the location of your online tuxedo vendor. If you’re located in a state where your tuxedo seller maintains any kind of physical presence – a warehouse, or an executive office, for example – you’re liable for local sales tax, even though the sale was made over the internet. Typical sales tax on a tuxedo could run between fifty and a hundred dollars, or even more. So, if you’re really trying to pinch your pennies, choose a vendor with no ties to your home state.
Be around for delivery. Reputable online tuxedo sellers will ship your order via UPS or FedEx, and they’ll require a signature for delivery. If you have your new tuxedo delivered to your home, and you’re at work during the day, you could end up getting married in a wooden barrel.
Even worse, if you authorize the driver to leave your delivery with a friend or a neighbor and your tuxedo is stolen or damaged, you may not be able to claim an insurance refund. Send your order to your office, or spend about fifteen bucks to pre-arrange delivery to a UPS Store where you can pick up your package at your convenience.
Try it on for an audience. There’s no rule that it’s bad luck for a bride to see the groom’s tuxedo before the wedding day. Show off your purchase for her, and for at least one other fashion conscious friend that can backstop the work of your local tailor. If you’re looking too bulgy or too loose, you should have time to make some last minute adjustments.
