Wedding Night Blues: Eight Mistakes to Avoid in the Bedroom

#5: Drinking too much. It’s easy to get a little bit tanked up on your own wedding day. Just remember that alcohol can loosen you up too much – to the point that you won’t be able to perform well. You wouldn’t want to run a marathon after drinking a case of beer, so why would you expect to have good sex under the same conditions? Pace yourself, drink lots of water, and save the hard stuff for after your lovemaking session.

#6: Unleashing the Monday Morning Quarterback. Enjoying sex on your wedding night involves a lot of managed expectations, especially if either of you lack bedroom experience. Start your relationship with an open mind and the idea that it will take some time for you to discover each other’s bodies. If you’re not happy with the sex, don’t criticize. Just coach her through a new position the next time.

#7: Dropping Out. Remember that women enjoy the emotional aspects of sex as much as (or even more than) the physical activity. Your body will send out a wave of sleep-inducing serotonin after you reach climax. Fight the urge to drift off to sleep! Instead, sit up, enjoy some dark chocolate with her, and talk about the events of the day to show her that you really care about your relationship.

#8: Staying Embarrassed. You’re under plenty of pressure to perform on your wedding night. If you haven’t been sexually active, you may come early, or you might have trouble even maintaining an erection. The good news is, you probably don’t need any little blue pills. You just have to get more comfortable with your own body. If you’re having trouble getting aroused, don’t hide or stay grumpy about it. Focus on doling out pleasure to your bride, so she can hold great memories of your first night together as man and wife.
